Also, you may want to consider MTB shoes as the cleats are somewhat recessed compared to road bike shoes, ie you won't be walking around like you **** yourself.

I've got mtb recessed cleats, look like normal trainers.

Assuming you mean spinning, I'd go for the cheapest available - they look fun but will be hard to walk in.

MTB clipless shoes aren't as stiff so slightly less efficient.

Proper roadies don't wear MTB shoes

Have a look on Wiggle or Ribble Cycles Sam. Those Muddy Fox ones look a bit on the cheap and nasty side to me

He needs them for 'sniping' in the gym, so unless he wants everyone to know he's using spds he'll be better off in more easy to live with MTBs if he'll be doing much walking around.

If you're ONLY doing spinning, then go for road biased ones. MTB ones are usually slightly cheaper.

Never seen cleated pedals on a spin bike before only straps, and any gym shoe will do for them. I must have been going to the wrong gyms!

Buy a bike and go on the road, exercise bikes are so boring in comparison.

Just to enrage the cyclists, if you have SPD pedals then you are probably cycling illegally. Lighting regulations state that you MUST have a reflector to the front and back of both pedals, and as I have never seen a set of SPD's on the road with reflectors, then I guess that they are all breaking the law. Not that the law means anything to the average cyclist !

My Johnny G spinner at home has straps and spds
Have a road and MTB too, only mtb shoes though.
Funnily enough I was in Sports direct yesterday looking at their 'range' of 2 cycle shoes. Didn't even pick them off the shelf. Strange as the very high profile cycling has now and a company like Sports Direct haven't got anything approaching a decent range of any cycling stuff in their shops.

Wrong. All bikes must be provided with them when sold. Perfectly legal to take them off once you actually ride the bike.

A nice anti cyclist attempt though...

Probably why all the road bikes i've bought don't come with pedals.
I fit SPD-SL pedals so no reflectors for me, i don't have a bell either

I've yet to see an spd or spd-sl pedal with relectors fitted.
My most recent bike came straight out of the shop without any reflectors or bell fitted, if it had they would have been taken straight off.
