Default MOT Question

Got my mot coming up soon and got a querie. My car tyre size is supposed to be 225/45/17. Although the front tyres are 215/45/17 and pretty much brand new and been on the car since i got it.
Would this fail an mot because of this?

I doubt the average MOT Tester would see the sizes .... anyway, I'm not sure that on the same axle it isn't a MOT Fail anyway.

Long as they are both the same on the front thats all that matters. Bmws use wider rear tyres then the front mate so no need to worry

As said above, size difference is fine as long as it is different axle.. ie you can have smallers on the front, or smaller on the rear, but not 2 smaller ones on the left, or 2 smaller on the right..

Aslong as the tyres match across the axle its a pass. I'd imagine all mot testers generally check tyre sizes, i know i do when im testing, tyres are one thing were taught to check properly as its these that keep us on the road

Many years ago I had a Renault 5 Gordini Turbo.I wanted to put wider tyres on the front.I was told it was illegal too put bigger tyres on the front than on the back even if the car is front-wheel drive.

Weird, but I don't know if that was true then or is still the case.

But in an AWD car, it's a VERY good idea to have all four tyres the same size.

I should be surprised if the tester failed it. Let us know how it goes anyway.
