Fitting Car Radio
The original radio in my old Volvo packed up so I found a replacement. It is exactly the right size but the connections on the back are different and so I can't plug it in.
Are adapters available or do I have to try and find an old radio that has the right type of connectors?
Thanks, David
Part No 3533781-1 btw

No you can buy adaptors pal, I went to halfrauds and asked what I needed. They had one for £30,
So instead I asked what it was called and got one off eBay for £13 brand new

The connector on your new radio will be 'ISO', so you need a 'Volvo to ISO' connector, one end plugs in to the car loom, the other to the short loom supplied with your radio.
Not sure what model car you have but various are listed on ebay...

You could cut the plugs off and join the wires individually, bit of a faff though and you'd need a wiring diagram

Cheers guys,
The duff radio is from my 1996 Volvo 940. The replacement is from a similar model Volvo of same vintage, if that helps.
Was going to get a new one but now thay have stopped my Child Benefit

If its a stock unit removed from another volvo, if it dosnt fit? Then it wont and a iso connector will not fix it.
Your better off going to halfrauds or something and buying a new cheap unit with an iso for your car and maybe get a fascia adaptor if you need one if size is an issue

David,
Take a pic of the back of the duff unit and plugs on the loom and then a shot of back of new unit and post them up (ice forum could be worth a shot too) and I am sure we ca figure out what adapter is needed
Additionally, have a look at this

Thanks Markus, I am trying to get a matching unit via the Volvo club but if that fails then I'll get the camera out. Appreciate your comments David
