Thumbs up New Top Gear Series 19 - 27th January 2013

I am not 100% sure if accurate, but I think the new Top Gear Series (19) is due Sunday 27th January 2013.

Cool.

Slightly off-topic but did anyone else get "The Worst Car In The World" DVD for Christmas?

I did and thought it was excellent.

James May is a great presenter - I am a big fan of his other TV shows.

Top Gear is ****, don't know why anyone watches it. 3 middle aged men dicking about like school kids. Should review cars properly and leave the supercars out. All been done before. Run out of ideas Oh and the recent India special was crap!!!

Right I have got all the usual complaints out of the way in the above so there is no need for anyone else to post them.

Leaving the rest of us to look forward to the new series

I've read that it's set to air early 2013 with the Xmas special in February, so your date could well be correct.......lets hope so anyway!

Agreed, though I hear he's a miserable sod in person, but did like the DVD, some of the design fails of the past were hilarious, like the SAAB that couldn't be parked

Let's face it, most of us would love to do their job. Pissing about in cars (mainly supercars) with your mates and getting paid loads, does it get much better?

I heard he was quite friendly. They were filming in Christchurch near me and one of my work mates met them and got some pics. Apparently May and Hammond were really chatty but Clarkson was grumpy and a bit pompous.

***SPOILER ALERT ***

- Acknowledging that the India Special wasn't quite as spicy as it could have been, Jeremy, Richard and James will venture to Africa in search of the source of the Nile, just like the British explorers of yore. Only they'll be doing it in some fantastic used wagons they bought online for £1,500: a BMW 5-Series Touring, a Volvo 850 T5-R, and a Subaru WRX with a toilet seat for a hood scoop.
- Jeremy commissions students taking Coventry University automotive design to make him a car that's even smaller than the Peel P50 he drove a few years ago. That's how he ends up trapped in a scooter-looking thing.
- "Consumer Affairs Editor" James attempts to turn a Bentley Continental GT into a rally car, and they say that the way the two-ton luxobeast handles on a muddy stage "may surprise you." Hmmm...
- The guys will be participating in another U.S. road trip (but you already knew that), this time driving from the Nevada desert to the Mexican border in the new SRT Viper, the Lexus LFA, and an Aston Martin Vanquish.
- Another Big Race like the famous Bugatti Veyron vs. James' plane episode from a while back. This time, they'll be racing from Wembley to Milan to catch a soccer match with Jeremy in a Shelby Mustang GT500 and the other guys in a train. Glad to see so much American car love this season!
- Richard and Jeremy redesign a Fiat Multipla to make it into the ultimate car for old people. (Not just the ultimate car for people with poor taste.)
- Remember car football? It's back, except this time it's car rugby. I can't wait to see how this will go down, and then try it myself, and then get arrested. Again.
- Road tests of the Toyota GT86 and Pagani Huayra, and a hot hatch battle between the Ford Focus ST, Renault Megane RenaultSport Cup 265, and Vauxhall Astra VXR. Which FWD street fighter will come out on top?

Agreed this hot hatch test should be good. I've seen a few videos on youtube of different channels testing the new hothatches, but will be interesting to see what the TopGear team make of them.

Only FIVE shows Guess they really are out of ideas

The 'Worst Car Ever' DVD was dire IMHO, glad I didn't pay to watch it.

I've heard the same from someone who works on the specials with them.

Apparently Hammond is a really nice bloke, May nice but boring, and Clarkson moans a lot.

I met Hammond at the Nurburgring when they did the Transit van episode. He was pretty quiet and didn't really look like he wanted to be there actually!

not seen the dvd, i will at some point - easy going very light entertainment with a few minor bits of comedy and the occassioanl beast of a car - perfect light veiwing.

ill be watching the new series also, and no doubt the countless repeats on dave also

in all honesty, i dont really like them, but somehow semi enjoy the actual show lol

In this trailer the Bugeye is in front, and Hammond is driving it.

I'm very happy TopGear is back. After the appalling India Special, the series last year was actually very good.
