It was resurrected a few years ago with Johnny Vaughn hosting but was fairly lame like today's effort.
Bottom line is that back in the day the contestants played for pride and really wanted to win, and some were right hard barsterds too. They showed a clip of Keegan scuffing himself up from the 70's today. I watched that then and he really wanted to win, but then again, back then the likes of him would play injured after cortisone injections they were that keen to get stuck in.
Modern athletes are pussies in comparison, so you'll never get 100% out of them unless there is major glory/money on offer. Pride isn't enough.
