You needed to have been alive in the late 60's/early 70's to understand what the world was like then. It certainly was not like today.
Men were predatory in those days, and Females the chased .... not like now. I'm not defending anything - just stating that it was a different time, with different 'implied' rules.

Wasn't born till 74, so yeah I have no idea
You think this is going to go a lot further then?
As a side note, wasn't Fred the weatherman living with the guy who played Jimmy Corkill in brookside?
Is he next?

I just don't get where any proof or evidence is going to come from?! It's just like "He did this", "No I did not". No one got anyone pregnant, and you'd think with all these people who are being reported in the media, one of them might have fathered a child to get some DNA proof from?!
Just seems very strange that it's all happening now, at the same time, I don't for one minute doubt that Savile was guilty, as there's video footage etc relating to possible on air crimes, but I cannot see where this massive scandal is going, apart from ruining people's reputations, although let me make it clear, if guilty, I believe in giving them the strongest punishment imaginable, but I'm at a loss as to where any evidence will come from, as if they had it before, why not take it to the police then?! Or sooner than 2012 at least!

Whilst I agree that things were very different then, we all still knew that it was wrong.
I used to live near a mental hospital (nuthouse) as a kid and was flashed by dirty old men quite a few times while I was out playing as a kid. It didn't affect us though, we just threw sticks etc at them til the buggered off.

Sounds like you might be priming us for a leave of absence.

Unless there is hard evidence, I can't believe that they are prosecuting people 30-40 years after the fact.

The point is that if innocent these people are then forever associated to paedophilia which is not right. Lord McAlpine is a prime example and all the money in the wrold can't change the fact he was named and outed as a paedophile when he in fact wasn't!

Whilst I agree in principle Les this is a very sensitive subject and I am not particualrly happy to see name after name dragged up by the disgusting press we have here in the UK without anything in many cases being proven as yet. No matter what evidence the police think they have got only a trial can decide if these people are guilty or not!

If the coppers are going to make arrests then they should make very certain that they have very strong evidence, especially if it stems from many years ago.
As you say, the Lord McAlpine example was a severe error and it will have an effect on his future unfortunately.

Have seen Fred in the boozer in Hale, Cheshire, he is a slightly crumpled, shambolic figure, he is gay which isnt a crime but this sounds like it may have been, used to see Kevin Webster int he same pub, he was accused but aquitted of similar stuff.
