That'll be me slaving away for hours in the kitchen, and my reward will probably be an argument. Not too bothered about drinking these days, but might enjoy a single malt.

Full trad here also, with as above the pigs in blankets taking the biggest hit. Me and the wife will do a co-op mission on the lunch, but having been posted up north, the ovens are a lot smaller here so I'll have to be creative!!

Steak, chips, onion rings, egg and beans here. Proper trifle to follow. We had a vote and that is what we came up with.

the original was in reference to the turkey.

I'll be cooking our's, I have been offered help so I'll see if I'm in the mood to take it after being up all night wrapping presents. We'll be having the full traditional dinner (or lunch as some people call it), well hopefully we will as we have still to buy everything and hopefully won't be running round panicing looking for the last turkey in the country on Christmas Eve

My sister and her fancy man will be cooking for us. They are both stars in a kitchen and any part of the meal will be outstanding and I look forward also to my own sloe gin!

I'm cooking ours as usual.
Turkey but roll the skin back baste in butter, a bit of sea salt and a few rashers of bacon before rolling the skin back up, small joint of beef, pigs in blankets, "Jamies" roasted spuds, carrots and parsnip's with garlic, rosemary and a drizzle of vigin olive oil, then a maple glaze at the end for the nips. Sprouts in butter and chopped chorizo.

Me in the kitchen, i-pod and a decent bottle of Rioja

The washing up doesn't bear thinking about

This was where I was going with this. Being the male, IE the roast cooker, I do them all. For a few years now though I haven't cooked Xmas dinner, so whats the best recipe for gravy? Can Chicken Oxo cubes be used?,

This thread was about dinner not breakfast

You were doing well until you added beans

It is just a lunch like you would have in a carvery pub. What is a good Christmas? It is just a day with a carvery lunch and some new socks!

Turkey I usually steer clear of. Rib of Beef served med rare is my fave.

Bread sauce I love and a side dish I got off my mum - soften Leeks in butter, season with salt and pepper, make a white sauce add cheddar, stir in the leeks then top with more cheese and breadcrumbs and cook til golden brown on top - lovely jubbly!

Tbf most carvery lunches are sh!te. Tbh I have stopped going out for roasts these days as seems very hard to get something even close to a good home cooked version even when places are charging £15 a plate.
