Default Who do you tip at Christmas ?

Our window cleaner used to do the windows for £3 every two weeks, then he moved to £6 once a month

It wasn't until I paid him and he said "Merry Christmas" that I thought on .. should I have tipped him ?

It's really up to you. Tipping at xmas lets these people know you appreciate what they do. Even the binmen and postman get stuff around here. They do something you want done right and with a bit of consideration. At the other end of the scale are people who treat these service providers like something they just stepped in. Well, when their mail is scrunched up and the binmen won't lift their bins because they're 'too heavy', it's their own fault. Best to keep good people sweet, even if they are 'only doing their job'.

i always tip at our local eatery, strange how we always get a table even when they are busy, and get asked, its cold sir would you like a table by a radiator, or in summer would you like a window table.they are all young girls on min wage so a few quid extra make a huge difference

We usually tip the window cleaner a couple of quid at Xmas as he's been doing our house about 20 years now.

£4 he charges (comes once every 4 weeks).

Scunthorpe.

So he's halved his workload and doubled his prices.

He'd get no tip from me

If the service is good I'd tip, the bin men are bellends, leaving my bin 6 houses up the road and never, ever taking any extra rubbish, how hard is it to drop it into a bin and load it up again ?

The Window cleaner is a good fella, but they no longer user ladders, its a long stick with a brush on the end and it doesn't do a very good job.

Postman is always different and that's about it ..

I don't tip binmen, postman or any other person, usually I leave a small tip when I have had a waiter service type thing but not anywhere else. After all it is what they are already being paid to do.

I've been to work this morning and got £10 in tips, I often get tips though I don't like to take it, I sometimes ask people to put it into a Poppy Appeal box instead.

I often tip in restaurants if I've had good service, I know what its like to do the best job I can and not get a little thanks so if they put the effort in to help me then I'm more than happy to reward it
