hi
i've been a chef 20+ years and have found these pepper/salt mills to be excellent http://www.peugeotmills.co.uk/, i've had one of their pepper mills 10+years now and it's still going strong.

I bought one (actually two, a salt and a pepper) of these - a perfect cross between a grinder and a shaker.

The only downside is that the holes can get clogged up over time with steam etc., so you need to give them a tap (or a wipe) to clear things up.
