Xmas presents for the kids how much is too much?
As above really, for the 1st year ever me and the wife have sorted the kids out already and even wrapped half of them! (had a few presents we couldn't get the other year due to being sold out! so never again!) anyway! when working out what we had spent the "how much is too much?" question arose
My 8 year old £310 spent in total
my 4 year old £296 spent in total
Would you class this as too much?
Heard a story today of kids getting Ipads etc and thought £400 on a single gift was a tad much...

Mine are lucky to get £100 spent on them. I can't think of what to get them anyway once I've given all the good ideas away to the relatives!

Every one is entitled to spend what they want on their children. Marie and I have budgeted £200 for our 18month old son. Problem is finding homes for all the new toys!
Think we are spending around £50 on each other. Xmas is not about us anymore.

£800 on booze and a party to bring in the New year for sure. At least new year is traditionally something to celebrate. Why the heartache for x-mas. Something not quite right here

Personally? I think it's a bit much. But it depends on your income I guess. I could work a load of overtime and spends £100's on our 20 month old toddler but won't. I do think there's a reasonable line before you are spoiling them. Me and Nat have spent maybe not even £200 altogether for Isaac That includes bargains too so there is a lot there. Finding space in even a 3 bedroomed house is a pain now
I'm getting Nat a few "sexy" bits this month with some OT monehs and hopefully myself some new studio monitors next month

I have a rule that if my sisters have children then they don't get a gift. ( I have 6 sisters from the same parents)
Now they are all breading like rabbits it's getting beyond a joke. We used to do £20 on each but TBH they are not mine so it's a selection pack each, even though these are unhealthy and some of them are super fat.
When I have a little person I guess if I have one then about £300 would be the MAX when I have a 2nd I would imagine this would go down to £200 each, but I'm purly guessing.
Please can you all do the one thing I saw on TV a few weeks back. The weeks leading to christmas talk to your kids about one special present. Then wrap an onion and give them it first! Say it's their main present.. lol watch their faces and upload it here.

That'll go down like a lead balloon Robsy!
The boy, 11, is getting a Google Nexus 7, and a couple of little bits. Mainly WWE stuff. The girl, 8, is getting an iPod touch and some Moshi monster stuff.
The wife and I put £50 each away each month for Xmas, that deals with the kids and each other. Maybe a turkey with the leftover cash.

Normally around £500 each, kids 9 & 13.
Although the 13 year old wants a gaming pc this year so the budget will have to go up.
Me and the mrs normally buy a token present for each other, rather spend it on the kids.
Nik.

The wife buys all the presents for our two kids, so I haven't a clue how much is spent on them (although I suspect not more than £250 each).
Would rather spend the money on the kids than give the wife a pressie.
I asked my 7 year old lad what he wanted for Christmas, and he replied being totally serious - "I'll be happy with whatever I get".
For that, he gets an extra chocolate coin in his stocking.

I think its all just gone a bit mad. I think apart from what we are spending on our Kids, its what they are actually getting, like at what age is it right for a kid to get a tablet, or phone???
My 8yr old asked about a phone, and i said she is too young, but there is a few her age that have them, ffs 8 years of age and have a phone.

I thought I spent a lot, clearly not as much as some of you guys though, I reckon £200 each, plus whatever the missus sneaks in without letting me know.
More than enough, seeing as they get a mountain of pressies from the rest of the family.
