15 right.

The problem is that the Conservatives, followed by Labour, destroyed the apprentice system in the UK.

In the 50's and early 60's, only the top 5% or maybe 15% went to university, teacher-training etc.

The next ten to 15% got the apprenticeships, so that's the second to top tier, those between the top 25% and the top 10%.

NOW we have 50% of people going to uni. Those applying for apprenticeships, therefore, are in the lower half of the population

Can't remember logs for the life of me, so 13/15. Does anybody still use logs? Can they be solved without log tables?

Ah, didn't notice the solution within the answers;

It's trivial mental arithmetic. Q13. If log 4 is 0.6020 then log of 10x4 (i.e. 40) is log 10 + log 4. Log 10 is by definition 1 so log 40 is 1+0.6020. or 1.6020. Q. 14 is slightly more complicated. 0.12 is (3x4)/100. 3x4 is log 3 + log 4= 1.0791. To divide by 100 you subtract log 100 (which again by definition is 2) i.e. 1.0791-2 = -0.9209. No calculator needed!

It is just basic arithmetic in the main.

Logs were always the easy bit, just need to be able to add or subtract really.

I only did GCSE maths, and most of that has been forgotten as its never been used since. Didn't bother with the log questions - don't ever remember covering it.

Seeing questions like this makes you realise just how much you can't remember. Even though I recognised how to work out one of the questions, I couldn't remember the rules!

I only got 10, i didn't have a clue how to divide without using a calculator

Never even see logs so didn't attempt them!

I just couldn't remember the rules for a few of them as i've not had to do any maths which isn't an excel formula in over 10 years!

I don't see the issue, GCSE kids can do this.
