Default Where do your children do their homework?

Bit of a random question but where do your children do their homework and how old are they?

ie in their bedroom, different bedroom, dedicated study, kitchen table etc

Thanks

12yr daughter does hers in her bedroom on her Mac. TV in there too, but not an issue.
Needs IT access due to her homework being issued from and uploaded to the student server.

My 9yr daughter does hers downstairs, usually at the table, and with the TV on as background (usually on the 6 o'clock news), and has access to Wifey's laptop.

At the moment, TV is not an issue in our house, nor is doing the homework.

Don't children use a pen and paper these days? I hate to think what these kids handwriting would be like after growing up on a laptop.

Well I personally don't really write. I take notes, but my hand writing has gotten worse over the years. But my kid's Primary school, at least, teaches proper cursive writing. Some homework is on online though. Can't really see the need to critise kids over hand writing as everything is moving some sort of computer based writing - even signatures are often done on the touch type pads.

11 year old, at the kitchen table or in the study if the homework is online
8 year old is just starting at the kitchen table for more complex homework, but also sat with us on sofa if it's simple spelling/reading.

No computers/tv's in the bedrooms

Our youngest (8) does hers either on the coffee table or the kitchen table. Though I must stress that her idea of doing homework and ours dont always match, she can be distracted by a butterfly/her hair/a breeze etc Though she does try ..

Middle one (9) is the hardest to get to do homework, again usually at the kitchen table though he did try and explain that his homework involved going onto the iMac and watching videos..yeah right.

Eldest (12) is at secondary school so a lot is done at school anyway but he tends to do his where ever he feels like. Only have to monitor him that he is not spending his time watching endless videos about CallofDuty on youtube.

All three of them use pen and paper, no substitute

Big mistake if children are not taught to write properly.

Three girls in school now, eldest is 8 and middle girl is 5, both do their homework in the kitchen (was tempted to say West wing), done before dinner so there is no whinging about being tired or wanting to play before bed time. Kids cannot concentrate beyond around 5-6pm so anything after that is a waste of time as the writing etc gets sloppy.

My kids are 11 and 9 and both do they're homework at the kitchen table, or the computer desk if they need to research something.

Oh and my kids write fantastically too. Invariably, the computer stuff is to print out diagrams, compile Powerpoint slides and conduct research.

As I work in Education, I'd be pretty negligent to allow their basic skills to fall by the wayside.

Our two (8 and 9) do it in their bedrooms 50% online/50% written. No tellies/playstations/Wii etc in their rooms either yet.

"Irrelevant" is, I suspect, the word you're looking for.
