Just had a cepe omelette for my tea.
Neighbours brought me two huge fresh cepes, so I sliced and sauteed them, and made an omelette.
That, plus French bread, plus red wine: what a tea, fit for a paysan. I'm stuffed and I have three ripe white peaches to eat for dessert..

Me neither, had to Google! Once I'd discounted some of the answers, I found some pictures of some fungi. Can't think of anything worse to eat!

Cepes are low in fat and carbs, high in protein, vitamins and fibre. They are a prized ingredient and used in a lot of cuisines. I can think of a lot of worse things to eat!

I can't stand any type of fungi... Not being picky just about them.

They are like a huge mushroom, the stalk is white, the cap is brown, shiny like a teacake on top, and like a greenish sponge underneath.
VERY flavourful.

Cepes are small rodent type creatures that only live in some regions of France and eaten by poor people as a last resort.
When dead they often look like mushrooms.
"Cepe" is an old French word meaning "tasty rodent".
