How anyone can support the brutal, cruel and inhuman treatment meeted out by these Men of God is beyond me. A young girl who simply wants to have an education and get on in life, shot by ignorant thugs.

Hadn't heard of her before I heard the news this morning. Yeah brave girl. Really, really hope that she recovers fully and is properly protected but that's a pretty hard task where she is.

Taliban=cowards
I have something in common with them, I share an incredible lack of regard for their lives like they do for everyone else.
Pakistan could do a lot more to erradicate their existence, by having a lawless tribal region just demonstrates the authorities are happy for them to be there. The Pakistan military has more than enough resources/power to crush that area but it's just left to breed more of the *******.

Pakistan could exercise some control over the tribal regions, especially if they could team up with the Afghans. It'd be a very long term commitment in difficult terrain where few would want to be stationed and would always be a target.
As it stands there's a very pragmatic (could say fearful maybe) approach. Not too many bombs going off in Pakistan and nothing to unite the people against any lawless tribal thuggery.
Exercising control could possibly be done one at a time. With the right approach - military and political - tribal areas could be approached piecemeal.

I hope you are happy with your life where you are free to voice your opinions without fear of death. Think about that next time you begrudge this heroine a bit of help.

The Daily Mail is full of people like you whining about the cost. The Pakistani government are footing the bill. Perhaps it will be safer for her to stay here and personally, I would rather her safe and pay for her than send her back to that barbaric regime.

What do you think the answer would be, build a new hospital to provide the treatment they will need in the UK?
And will the Pakistani government foot the bill using the cash they get from the 'evil infidel' the United States?
And if that is the answer, should other EU member states offer the same assistance and medical facilities?

That child is probably only one of hundreds who have suffered because of that barbaric society.

This girl is a heroine, a special case. She stood up to what she believed in in a society where her views are considered by some as "un-Islamic", i.e. that women should be beaten and kept uneducated. Well, with attitudes like yours and some of the other people in this country, if she dies, her death will be in vain.
Like I said, we should be proud of our nation, it shows we will not put up with bullies and help the victims of the most brutal of regimes.
Please remember, she is a 14-year-old child. Wouldn't you want someone to help your daughter if the roles were reversed?

We have a history with Pakistan. Not saying it's right that we don't treat all the others, but we should not be whining about the cost when we're not paying!

I know, we'll come out of Afghanistan and let them all kill each other and anyone who stands up for them, let their cancer spread further west and hope our kids like wearing veils and pyjamas.

Even if we were paying I would be happy that my taxes were going on her specialist treatment. Brave little thing and I hope she recovers well.
As an aside it can only do an immense amount of good for Pakistan/UK relationships.
Hang in there kid

OK, so we should let her die then? I'm not getting into the wider argument, she wanted a better life for herself and her friends and got shot for her efforts.

Unfortunately, they won't stop at just killing each other, they'll start on us.... again, but this time on our own territory.
Anyway, enough about the wider ills. We need to look after this girl and hope what she stands for spreads.
