Looks to me like the zip is bust as the zipper is in the middle not holding the two sides except where the zip is.

So it's logical the baggage people would wrap it in tape.

Jeeeze, the thing barely fits in the bag ..... It's not a ***** - it's a monster! Clearly it tried to escape and the airline simply restrained it.

Here's a hint lads: if you don't want to run the risk of some awkward questions being asked, don't stuff a huge pink probably nuclear reactor powered ***** though notoriously tight *pun intended* airport security in a bag that can barely contain the rest of your luggage!!!!
