Default Senna

So it's been on my to watch list for a while now so this evening I had a spare few hours to sit down and watch it in peace. What a truely epic, thrilling, sad & inspiring film and man he was. The behind the scenes footage ie the FISA drivers briefings were really interesting, I quickly started a hatered for the head of the FISA as soon as your saw the alliance he had with Prost. And don't get me started on Prost!

I've been following F1 since I was a child and can remember really, probably around the time of his last season and race. Yet I never actually knew about what went on that weekend. Rubens crash, the un-stable car and not to mention the previous day when Ratzenburger hit the wall and also died which looked truely horrific.

Anyway I can't reccomend this enough if your a Motorsport fan or even if not its a rather compelling story.

What really struck me about the whole film, is How he did not want to be in that car for his last race.. ironic

Prost was a pall-bearer for Senna. That struck me as odd at the time watching the film as it didn't follow the theme of the rivalry between the 2.
Recently i saw an interview with Prost at Goodwood where he said he was very unhappy with his portrayal in Senna, that he and Senna were very good friends and that Senna constantly phoned Prost asking advice throughout their careers.

But why would such a *******, cheating scum bag be asked to be at Senna's funeral and help carry his coffin?.

Prost is also a trustee of Senna's charitable trust as I remember.

I think the film was shot to show the tensions and struggles that Senna faced and may have cast Prost as 'the baddie' to tell the story better. I think it is fair to say though that certainly at the end of Senna's career when they weren't team mates their relationship was warmer.

Agree, there relationship did seem better towards the end of his career. Going back to the accidents, seeing donelley's crash was horrific, as the camera swings to the reckage then to him lay in a ball on the track looking lifeless. I couldnt believe he survived it!

This is the point that Id have made.

An excellent film, but, and no pun intended, spoiled by you knowing exactly how it was going to end. I missed that race and I have never seen the crash since - its easy to see if you want, but I didnt and I expected it to be more graphic than actually it was.

awh no , at least put a spoiler alert at the start of the thread if you going to say what happens at the end !

only joking. But with the whole build up to the race , it seemed like a film plot didnt it. You couldnd make it up. Shocking.
