Unhappy Floods

Did anyone see that news piece? Some bloke in Yorkshire drove his car (some estate? Passat) under a bridge which was deep with water, it hydolocked, he abandoned it, came back later after the flood had risen then receded, car got totally submerged, sand and silt (probably sewage too) everywhere, ruined.

He said he came a cropper only after driving through the second time, said it was 'only' 2-3 feet deep the first crossing. Still seems to me a bit risky to drive through 2-3 feet...that is almost a meter and maybe more when you account for a 'bow wave'.

Do people not have a thinking organ in their head?

Can never understand why some feel they have to drive into floodwater. It always becomes far deeper then they expected. Such an expensive mistake.
