Finance is an amoral world.
Really interesting blog article this.
Worth spending 5 mins to read it. Not just about finance but group psychology too.

How is this in any way scientific though? It's one man's opinion based on his personal experiences.
What does it tell us that we don't already know? Yes, some of the people in these professions and what they do can be viewed as amoral or immoral by people with a particular outlook. But so what?
Group psychology - there must be about a million different narratives you could give to what goes on within a group and where motives lie.
Like I say, pseudoscience given an air of authority.

Finance ammoral ? Like that is a surprise to anyone. The specificantion finance is a bit unnecesary, there was a good study relating to stolen bagels showing plenty of people high up in corporations are dishonest and feel entitled to steal . Finance amplifies this as so many in the industry are paid well in excesss of their ability and then feel like they are somehow more special than everyone else which entitles them to ammorality and dishonesty.

What criticism is there of the financial system? At best this article describes the opportunistic who if they can get away with something will endeavor to get away with something....that is a personality trait that runs through society from the top right down through to the bottom.....

Can't find the study just pages talking about it, the general jist was that a guy who spent 13 years leaving bagels in offices for sale in a honour based system found interesting correlations in who why and when bagels were taken with out being paid for.

It's a psychologolism of the system, not the only valid point of view but not to be ignored I think.

I agree but if top of the financial or business world attracts/empowers sociopaths then it explains some of the instability and dysfunction we see, as like in the boys homes these people toxify all they touch and create victims....this is what sociopaths do.
