Question Scam ?? Call from 07049 number

This a weird one - 2 phone calls today on 2 separate lines both from numbers beginning 07049 207 - both exactly the same "Hello, Hello can you hear me" then cut off. I suspect its some kind of scam hoping I will ring back on what is presumably a premium rate personal number.

Anyone else had one of these ?

Type the full number into google - if it's a scam it'll usually appear on there

Two different numbers, 07049 207488 and 07049 207628 both appear on Google but only in massive lists of numbers not necessarily associated with a scam.

Don't ring it back, what ever you do. It's a premium number and will charge you the earth.
I thought it rang a bell (sorry) Looks like they are trying it on again!

I love these calls and the `INTERNATIONAL` ones. I do one of 2 things, shout **** off, very loud or.....I say, hang on my wife / girlfriend / gay lover, whatever, deals with this. Put the phone next to a radio and forget about it

a woman got sued for deafening a call center worker , she blew a wistle down the phone in anger. Be careful .

I actually have fun with it , string them along by telling them everything they want to hear and make out to be their dream caller , then just as they are about to seal the deal say you changed your mind ! I make up some rubbish like how much i earn compared to what savings i have , you hear them rubbing their hands !

i do the same

If you have had a bad day at work (and you don't want to take it out on the wife or kids) then these guys are always good fodder.

Argue with them about everything - giving out my date of birth, the length of contract, the fact it will increase in price once their deal is over etc etc

I've been getting 01928 752291 ringing me all the time.

I've not been answering it but it seems it's coming from Holdcrofts Renault in Runcorn. I've never even been to Runcorn.....

Once had a guy call me from India from a loan company.I kept him going for about 20 minutes about borrowing £250,000.
Eventually we came to the repayment schedule & I said I would be more than happy to repay £5 a month.
He said 'You must be making a joke, yes?'

I've got my number on the do not call list and had anonymous reject added and they still call me .. they have a way for tricking the switch into thinking they are presenting a UK number .. does my head in. Tried speaking to their manager, but they don't seem to know what company they are calling from.

Rubbish! Maximum allowable rate = £1.50 per minute, you'd have to be pretty thick to keep holding for 3 hours.

Twas in the paper , thats what it said.

Edit- read it again and realised i picked it up wrong. It says its costs £300 "before the caller can speak". I now see that it probably means it has a recorded message/waiting in queue , before the caller can talk to anyone. But as u say 3hrs later u deserve it !

I think his username may be a clue as to why the bill was so high
