Me and my wife done the same as I did not want to get married in Scotland as the weather is most of the time miserable.

Been twice to Turkey. Last year I went to Marmaris and it was great. We were all inc. but still ate out about 3 times in the week....just to get out of the hotel and cos it was just so cheap. The only thing that p1ssed me off was the 5.30 am `religious chanting` over the PA system every morning We had to have the patio doors open cos aircon gives my ex a bad chest

went to Sidi 5 years ago.....5 star hotel that actually deserves 5 stars (for the price of a 3 star), best entertainment i've ever had on a holiday (the entertainments team were doing things all day and evening).
good food, good trips (white water rafting is a must), good people.
best hol i have had to date.

It's a great place for a family holiday but watch out for street traders hounding you, if you aren't interested be firm with them. Ischmila is a bus ride away along the coast & well worth a visit, great beach with watersports etc for the kids.

i have been and hated it. Though Thomas **** managed to double book us even though we booked and paid 6months in advance , ended up in a 3 star dump in a horrible area as they left it so late to tell us and we had to get a holiday at the same price that we paid in the winter !
May just depend on quality of hotel and location , going by what everyone else has said.

It was a brilliant holiday in fairness. I was 18 at the time and went to the clubs in Marmaris with my then 16 and 14 year old cousins with no issues buying booze
The beach at Icmeler is brilliant as above with watersports and topless bathing - this was important for an 18 year old lad
The nights out in Marmaris were legendary, whilst during the day family time round the pool was just as good, usually with a hangover!
I'm gonna go back eventually as my son is only 15 months and as we can't afford a holiday probably for a couple more years yet he'll be 3 by then and more aware
Have fun and bring back lots of "replicas" from the markets

I like really hot weather
I was in Kuwait a few years back and the heat was around 50 - 55 degrees
O.M.G I almost melted and I had to work in that heat
but I found a way to help me cope
I would take ice from our drinks cooler and fill all my pockets and hard hat with ice LOL I got some funny looks from the locals
