Question Insurance - cooling off period

If I make a claim a few days after taking out apppliance breakdown insurance over the phone but then cancel the insurance during the 14-day cooling off period am I liable to pay the claim?

I am after legal, not moral, comment please.

Agree but I haven't seen them yet as being sent by post.

Always struck me as an odd situation - for example you take a week's holiday and take out insurance but if no problems during the holiday you are free to cancel the insurance and get your premium back after you have returned. I have never actually done this but it must happen.

The 14 day cooling off period is if you've been mis-sold the policy (apparently)

Yes, the T&C's include a claim clause, any claims will violates your right to cancel, unless you have as above been miss-sold, then the company is within their rights to counter claim for the cost of the service or parts.

As I understand it.
