David Loyd Gym

be careful when you goggle, you'll have your eye out!
I think they were on Watchdog recently about telling lies to new join members about how they can sign up for a year but get out of the contract under certain circumstances - turned out to be a load of bollocks and you're tied in regardless.
I'm sure it was David Lloyd gyms, although I could be wrong.

I dont suppose it matters if you intend on sticking there for the full term of the membership.

I used to be a member for a few years at the chigwell DL gym - it's bloody expensive and generally very busy even off peak - during peak it was impossible to get on any machines - I use a much smaller gym now at £30 p/m and no joining fee and I get a better workout with less hassle
the advantage of DL gyms is they usually have a decent amount of tennis courts, extra facilities, swimming pool etc and they do use olympic bars and weights for heavy free weights - I suppose it depends if you want to just do cardio and weight training - if yes then your paying for stuff you wont be using much at DL gyms
mind you the totty tends to be better quality there

All I know is that the huge carpark outside the one in Cambridge is always full to bursting and the hand carwash there is always busy keeping all the beautiful people's X5s clean.

They are decent gyms but they are ruinously expensive and it is a nightmare to end your contract. Even once your year is up you still have to give something like 3 months notice and there are so many loopholes they use to get an extra month here and there out of you. I ended up in a massive battle with them and they were sending debt collection companies after me for what amounted to just one months payment (which they were 100% not entitled to because I was lied to by the receptionist).

I like the DL gym and am a member. It is expensive but if you use it regularly it's worthwhile. As well as loads of machines it has tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam rooms, classes for he kids, decent food, very clean showers/changing facilities, loads of parking etc.
And my god the totty is superfit!

I'm a member of the one in York. No complaints from me except the swimming pools are too warm for training in. Plenty of totty and the car park fills up with milf just after nine in a morning as kids have been dropped off at school.

The one local to me is a bit ****, its big with loads of kit but is always full so you can't use any equipment. It is massively overpriced and the majority of women in it are too old to perv at.

i really liked my local DL for 4 years, could train, then get a swim, sauna after work then head home for meal #6, all relaxed.
mine didnt include the tennis thing but the prices just crept up and up, and in mid 2000 was around £65 per month and other places provided what i needed for less, so moved on.
as far as facilities went it was very good imo
