Remember getting my speccy, loved that little computer some great games on it, use to take an age to load up if you had a "cough" copied "cough" game or your tape machine chewed up the tape
it was a fight for who got the main colour tv ended up getting a b&w portable when I saved enough from my newspaper round.
Still occasionally play LOM and Doomdarks Revenge (pc versions), fond memories

Was my first "proper" computer. Remember that I was made to catch up on a backlog of homework before I was allowed it The kid next door but one used to rent the games through some sort of postal thing and would then make you a copy for a quid + you supplied a tape. Very enterprising
Had an Atari VCS prior to that.

lol, the old school yard copy swops. go in with 3 or 4 games, coming home with 30 or 40.
15,000 titles were available for the spectrum. Thats just mental (more than most of the consoles PUT together. Truly a legend in affordable gaming.
Used to love reading Crash magazine too.
The amount of quicksilver (or was it quickfire) joysticks knackered was hilarious.
Pity Horace goes ******* never got released lol horace does everything else though!

I also remember going into Laskies in Brum, which always had the latest computers on display and getting them all to show line after line of naughty words.I think it was something like
10 "**** bubble"
20 Goto 10
30 End
Oh,how we laughed!

The Spectrum +3 was my first computer, with the disc drive!
I was always loved that you could go to a newsagent and buy a new budget game for £2.99 on cassette.

Two main memories of the speccy:
1. Dead man's fingers
2. Realising you can't use a c-90 to store your games 'cos they never bleeding loaded, you had to use a c-30 maximum to be sure
Oh, God now I'm thinking about all the different tapes, and which ones were best!

That makes me feel old. I had a ZX80 and then an Atari 400. Progressed through the Atari's (800, 130XE, ST) and then an Amiga. Happy days.
Off for my afternoon nap in preperation for the old peoples home.

I remember Gauntlet being a real pain, since you had to load every few levels.
Head Over Heels, Daley Thompsons Decathlon, Rambo, Target Renegade, Treasure Island Dizzy, Monty Mole
Used to spend a small fortune on £1.99 Mastertronic and Codemasters games as well as all the free tape you used to get on the magazines Still have a massive carrier bag full of games, including Alien, Young Ones and even Barbarian with the Maria Whittaker poster intact
