Going to Belfast and back
HI,
Wanted to go to Belfast to see a motorbike - if i go by plane, i would like to come back the same day..this is costing £180!
Driving seem to be even expensive as ferry costs are high as i wanted to go this Thursday \ Friday for the day! about £140 each way..unless i am looking at the wrong ferry! + 8 hour ferry time there and 8 hours back!
I want to pay for the bike and then have it delivered to the UK, or maybe drive up with a Van and bring it back.. whilst keeping the costs low..
Any one got any idea's?

We did a similar journey about a year ago for a motor, Larne - Troon was the ferry we took back and drove back down south. I only recall the ferry taking about 4/5 hours though.

I'm driving over tomorrow London to Stranraer/Belfast and on
IF (big IF) you were able to buy the bike and hire a bike trailler, I can tow it down next week when I return.
Your flying problem is that this is Easter weekend and every good Irish born citizen from all sides of the border will be popping home to see their folks - means the airplane companies can charge premium due to high demand. Also Belfast Int is not in Belfast, perhaps George Best might be a closer option.
Or get a local forumite to check it over for you? Quite a few are bikers.

I have done all the sums and the bike is not cost effective for me to buy..I would ideally want to see before i say yes - then the registration process will take 3 weeks - and summer will be gone by then..
its a 2005 bike being registered as a 2012 as it has been stored in someone's private collection..The insurance company want £600 more for this over a 2005 registered bike which is £250 for the year.. even though i will only cover 1000 miles a year!
