Default New Laws - Email and web use 'to be monitored'

If this is passed, it will be completely OK to monitor everything done online - all our key strokes and correspondence

Last time, under Labour (different driver of the bus) the same calling was massively opposed. Let's hope the same happens this time

You can use Tor to hide your tracks. The data is encrypted and your IP hidden.

I've read about this. Aren't there issues for the layman using it? Either security issues or stumbling across something you wouldn't want to see? Or can it be used in just the same way most of us currently browse the net now without any of these worries - i.e. you only get what you specifically seek out?

I use it very simply, which is that it launches, opens an instance of Firefox and you can browse relatively anonymously from there. If you go to whatismyip.com or similiar then you get some random IP address.

I stumbled across things I really didn't want to see, but I'm now very selective as to where I click. It is very much like the internet 15 years ago with few restricitions but made much worse by the cloak of anonymity.

All you have to do is either start all your emails with something interesting to so they will investigate or add something to a signature file that will get their attention. They will spend so much time chasing bogus prangsters and collect so much data they will be forced to bin the stupid idea or hire thousands of extra people generating thousands of new jobs. So got to be a good thing in the long run

True  huge amount of inconvinience inflicted on Joe Public so that they can monitor the few who commit attrocities ... ffs just monitor the crims imho
