Beats. By Dr.Dre

Try alternatives as well
I tried the beats, and some of the other ones in HMV recently, whilst the beats were good, (bass & extension) some of the others, (cant remember which lol) came very close.
Just shows what you get when you build things from good quality materials and partner components well. Stops all those unwanted vibrations and frequencies from clouding the real music
But definatly overpriced. My local HMV had a huge amount off them the other day, down from there £200+ price tags

If you're going to spent £180 - do it properly and go for the Bose!!
The problem with the Dre phones is that they are coloured (ie they're not what the music/audio is meant to sounds.
Each to their own but I haven't heard a set of dre (or Bose to be fair), or Sennheisers (that should wind a few people up!), AKG, Sony or Audio Technicas that are accurate.
The moral is to find a pair that you can live with.
Personally, I've got a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort 15s, which I know aren't accurate, but sound "nice" and can be worn for a long period of time.
I've also got a pair of ACS T1s - which blow the Bose out of the water.
ANd a reference pair of Stax headphones - which are VERY accurate, but due to their electrostatic nature, you can't really turn them up too loud.

Don't buy beats, bose or skullcandy.
Just go on head fi and ask there.
You'll get told what is or isn't good, not just some fanboy posting what they like.
Everybody's hearing is different, at least on there you'll have a far better chance of getting something you'll really like listening too.
How much you spending, and what do you listen to anyway?
Aah scoobydoo you love the t1's then, how did the fit go?

Hux is right, to be fair - opinions mean **** all. One person may love something that someone else hates.
My personal experience is that I hated the Dres, but the Bose suited my listening style - this may not be the same for you.
Good advice though about HeadFi - great site.
Fantastic mate
I've had fittings before, and STILL can't get use to the feeling when the mold is pulled out
Takes a while to get used to the isolation, but once they've been in for a while they're fine. The sound of the triple driver is (technical term here) "lovely".
Just hoping they don't get dogged with the QA issues that seem to have been reported last year

Am i right in guessing they sound warm?
Well fit wise my sleeks aren't 100% i still had to use nail varnish but it's fine now.
But it's all moot, as i have since learned im not a ba fan, i find them detailed but souless and cold.
My yamaha eph-100 are however fantastic, most rate them but like you say not all folk have the same taste.

As I'm not singing (ie keep me gob shut!), I didn't use a bite block.
Yeh, they're quite warm-sounding (which suits me perfectly), but really accurate (due to the 3 drivers). There's plenty of scope to dial in/out the sound you require
Going to try some others as well (out of morbid curiosity!! )

They sound very similar to my yammies, though mine are laid back id imagine the treble in yours would be a bit more forward.
Shame they didn't have a universal custom for trade shows, would be nice to have an audition as i came close to buying a pair a while back.
Though if im honest, with the right pair of iem's it's now very hard to justify the cost.
A few years back most universals couldn't touch them, but now they've really upped their game and now it's more about the fit tbh.

I've listened to the beats Pro, which i believe are the best they have?
Anyway for a similar price, my ultrasone pro 900's absolutely floor them.
Not just with bass quantity, they go lower and punch harder, when it comes to edm/trance nothing and i mean this nothing touches them, some come close but that's it.
This is where the pro 900's shine, of course they're weak in other regions, but that's why i have other phones.
Many on head fi will attest to this, there's a good thread on there all about them beats, and how everyone thinks they're 'the bollocks'
It's all subjective, shame you aren't local, id gladly let you have a listen.
Trouble then is everything else will sound poor lol.

I have the solo HD and they are fine for what I use them for, when I am offshore they get used for gaming on my Alienware and watching films and so on, they are good on my Ipod on flights and you cant hear any external noise when you have them on. I have no complaints I payed £135 for them new in Currys sale.

I had a nice pair of Pioneer SE MJ591 headphones for sale that were very good and couldn't give them away for a while yet people are willing to go out and buy **** like Beats by Dre and yes I have listened to them and no I don't think they are good for the money at all.

Right. I've always thought beats are ****e. So over coloured, and the 'studio' ones they make, that are meant for studio use, are terrible. If used for studio application, the sounds you are listening to will not translate well at all to other speakers/headphones.
If you are using them just for personal listening, then for the same money there is a huge range of much better headphones out there.
I can't say who, but i had an interview very recently for an audio manufacturer who have much to do with the companies associated with beats, and the person interviewing me even said that they were ****e!
They look cool, they are the 'in' thing at the moment, but my advice would be to go to a proper audio/hifi shop and try out some headphones in that same price range
Oh and listen to scoobydoo555's advice on other headphones

I got some orange studio ones from HMV, absolutely love them. Not cheap at £280 but it depends how much you use them etc, I think the sound quality is great, you can hear all the little notes in the backround, and no matter how loud you have them it doesn't distort, only thing I don't like about them is they take 2 AAA batteries, which can be a pain for me as I work away for 10/15 weeks at a time, so need lots of spares!

Beats are crap. Tried using a pair for DJ monitoring where clarity is paramount. My mates novice Numark hd's that cost £6.95 were better! And my Pioneer HDJ500s blast them out the water too. They're Pioneers "cheaper" headphones at £90 and are brilliant for what they do (can't justify £250 for the hdj2000s).
Beats are the 'in' thing, something the trendies wear to look cool and they think the sound is awesome - for me, it was ****. The end.
