Default The Shard, London Bridge

Most people who commute into London I'm sure will have noticed the mahoosive new tower nearly finished at London Bridge, The Shard.

Well, it looks like it's 'topped out' this weekend:

However much those guys are being paid, it's not enough!

Im surprised so little has been said in the press about this building.

A real sight on the London skyline. I for one like it.

They are indeed topping it off this week but it will not be useable until May 2013

Driving off the North Downs it's dominated the London skyline whenever it's clear for quite some time.

Arriving at London Bridge station it's pretty big, but standing underneath it doesn't look as impressive or as large as somewhere like the towers at Canary Wharf, because of the taper.

They've been showing it at the start of The Apprentice for the last few years, I've begun to think Sur Alan owns it

Yes it seems to have taken over from the Gherkin. The missus is well peeved as the Gherkin is her favourite building and was most upset when I said that the boardroom shots are not from inside the Gherkin but actually from some studio in wembley

It's an impressive building. Will be the tallest building in Western Europe.

Can't wait to visit the viewing galleries at the top and the view from the restaurants should be pretty impressive too.

Will also house the highest residences in the UK.

Interesting building I must say, and at 1000 feet plus it is pretty impressive

I have a thing about tall buildings, some magnificent examples around the world, Shard looking fabulous, still a few more to be thrown up in the city IIRC.

Its certainly impressive. The other half went for an induction there in his previous job, that was one of the things he said he was going to miss. He was looking forward to seeing it's progress.

Its certainly going to stand out.
