Default Sky Anytime+ now available for all Sky users

I heard yesterday that Sky have now released the Sky Anytime+ service for all Sky users. Previously you needed to have Sky broadband to use it.

I've applied on the Sky website to add the free anytime+ service to my account but I haven't had a chance to plug it in to my non-Sky broadband and try it yet.

Does anyone use Anytime+? Is there anything worthwhile on it? What's the speed like when you try to play something?

Anytime+ is great.

Speed - fine, it downloads to your HD.
Downloads a little bit, then allows you to watch while the download continues in the background

There's a ton of stuff on it, depends on what you want/like to watch though.

So to access this you need your sky box connected to your router?

Yes, preferably with a cable rather than wireless

:/ Changed my ISP to sky broadband the other day

Fella on phone taking the order told me I would recieve anytime+ box, and assured me I would be able to use it wirelessly. Found out now you have to buy a extra adapter to do so, another £60.

You can buy some wizadry that uses your house "copper cable" to route the signal eg box near tv + box near router both plugged in to electrics.

tried Anytime + , wasnt a fan , took an age to download (maybe my broadband speed , but its Sky too) and as far as i remember you have to subscribe to the stuff in the 1st place. Hate the Anytime on Sky too , whats with all the crap programs they choose to show again ? Its like kids shows and Arts guff , and bloody Sky moovies ! FFS the movies are already repeated a 100 times a month as it is !

Can anyone clarify whether you need to
be a sky broadband user to get Anytime +?
I have talk talk Internet and have a sky world package. Will be connecting via Ethernet cable...
Have looked at the Sky site and it implies that there may be a future charge or by "subscribing",you may unwittingly be signing up for sky broadband.
Can anyone clarify as I need episodes 2&3 of game of thrones!
Cheers...

You don't need sky broadband - any provider will do.
Don't forget that this counts towards your internet usage if you have such a limit.

Anytime has been available for a while - seemed to just randomly record stuff and usually stuff we weren't sub'd too so I turned it off.

Anytime+ gives you access to content via download. I quite fancied it myself for the movies but you have to be sub'd to Movies (AFIAK) in order to be able to DL and rent the movies. We had movies on trial but after a month of watching everything it was mostly repeats so didn't keep up it up.

You need to hard wire your SKybox to your 'net connection - mine is too far from my router for me to run a cable through - at least not without some serious drillage

Huge difference, firstly you're in control of what you would like to watch, and the selection is massive.

Yeah, I know about homeplugs - I prefer to run stuff straight through the CAT5e, plus the wiring in this place is shocking

B warned though, I believe you need the Sky + (new box) to take advantage of this. This is the black box so if you have the old white + box , you will need to upgrade and they can charge up to £199 for each box
