Default Frankie Goes to Hollywood

Just came on the radio, forgot how good they were, they dont seem to have much of a back catalogue though, not exactly prolific and I think a lot of it was Trevor Horn but some awesome tunes that still seem current today despite being getting on for 30 years ago.

Was mind blowing at the time, so different, I was gutted when my dad said they were gay, then I though so what, doesnt matter though I stopped short at the T shirts less it be confused as to which side I batted for.

I'm not really a FGTH fan but Rob Searle did a superb job of remixing "Power of Love" and "Two Tribes" in circa 1999-2000. Both on vinyl and gaining value. The likes of Paul Van Dyk etc. caned the remixes...

I remember seeing their very first performance on The Tube.

It wasn't that great but they made a huge impression and were massive within weeks.

Pleasuredome is probably in my 10 ten albums, one of the few albums I can still listen to without skipping 'filler' tracks. It sounded so different at the time.

I bought relax in Oct 83, didn't chart if I remember rightly. I have that original 12" with a 16 minute remix on the b side. Radio 1 played it back then lol.

Also have the 12" picture disc of relax and two tribes.

Certainly a breath of fresh air back on the day. Also remember the tube appearance, you're right it was pretty poor lol

Funny, for a song called "Relax", it is perhaps the least Relaxing song I can think of.
