Default Diesel nicked 3 times in 2 weeks

So having got a Disco about 2 weeks ago someone has now stolen the diesel out of it 3 times, first time I assumed my mind was playing tricks on me second time they even left the flap open so then I made sure there was only 4 quids worth in it and low and behold having not diven it for a few days I go out and see the tell tale splash of diesel down the side and the tank is dry. I really really hope the theiving scumbag cfomes back tonight.

What sort of area do you live in? I only ask because I remember you making another thread about being held against your will while your house was robbed.

You're lucky they're just syphoning it, the usual way these days is to drill the tank and let it drain out. They might get half a tank, the other half ends up on the floor, and you have a tank to replace.

As a slight aside

Jenny's dad had his sat-nav and binoculars nicked out of his audi - he finished shopping, loaded up the car and took the trolley back, they got into his car and nicked them whilst he was taking the trolley back to the trolley point close by. Police said this is happening more and more. - Lock your cars at all times!

It used to be a very nice one, plenty of 3-4 bed houses still 300k+ a 4 bed just up the road is 475k it was considered a very nice village to live in, then they built some poor people housing right near my house and it seems a small number of poor poeple can cause alot of crime.

I'd have printed off pics of him in the act with his name and address and posted them all over the neighbourhood warning others of his antics, and hopefully embarrassing him to leave the area. Then kicked the crap out of him as he walked home from the pub one dark night.

he needs to use his key fob properly, there is a boot access button that doesnt open the doors and locks the boot when its closed again, then when you return you press to open the door, it can programmed to open just the drivers door on first press and all on second press of the door open button.

If you leave it every night after cleaning down around the cap area the Police will be able to get fresh finger prints if diesel is nicked.

That is if the Police actually bother with this sort of thing these days?

I don't know why the hell not?

A print is a print and surely just a few hours later will still be ok even if outside unless pissing with rain?

I saw them take a print off a car window in CSI BTW.

Leave petrol in the tank, and in no terms run the thing.

Lets see if they come back when their engine is buggered, that's how id play it.

Knowing our legal system the thief could probably take you to a civil court and sue you for damaging his engine.

In my experience it only takes a few to ruin what would otherwise be a nice area. My ex grew up in a council estate that was full of nice people and was a close community. Through the day it was a lovely place, and there's really nothing wrong with the quality of the housing; it's first class. But there were about 3 or 4 families in the whole place that ruined it for everyone; mainly at night.

And then they drill the tank, leaving a bigger bill.

Araldite some pike fishing hooks onto the inside of the fuel flap - police should be able to get DNA evidence from the blood left.

Set up a cctv camera so you can catch them that way, your not putting much fuel in now so you can't loose much in trying to catch them. I bet if your sitting in wait for them they will never come when your there.

its probably coz if its outside technically anyone could touch the petrol cap. Not a crime to touch a car (should be - lol) Think of the amount of kids running around cars in the street , probably has their prints all over it ! lock them up !

Half a pound of sugar mixed in with it?

Does sugar actually do anything, or is that bollocks?

Doesn't stop it running but when you switch it off and everything cools it crystalizes (sp) and blocks everything.

I think.

I know someone who used to rob diesel. He used to pinch from all sorts of places.

When he finally got caught they couldn't pinpoint where the red had come from - only that some of it was red.

Only thing they could do him for was stealing the 4 25L drums he used to fill up. He didn't actually get done for fuel theft. Crazy!!

You actually mean 'lose', but in this case... loose might be appropriate

If I filled my tank with a diesel washing up liquid mix would simply draining my own tank get rid of enough to stop me killing my own engine when I started to use the car again ?
