That's rediculus. He's gonna be the most bullied child in the world for dressing as a girl. I wanted to be a power ranger when I was younger.. got bullied in college for wearing the costume and everything..

That kid is going to grow up hating its parents.

It's inverse parenting where the kid is having to meet the Parents needs, in this case a need for a girl at some level and/or the attention of that.

But with our motifs of 'individual choice', 'equality', etc in our society the professionals seek to look at this from the perceptive of the childs conscious 'want'. It is problamised and medicalised as GID but then the medical establishment has its cake and eats it by then taking a 'hands of' counseling role, as if to say the kid just needs help to fit in and the 'problem' is wider societies prejudices.

I think Freud was right when he said in issue of neurosis etc the child needs to be separated from his/her parents. I know he was probably talking about hysterical adolescent women but it wouldn't be too wrong here. It's obvious to anyone with a brain the kids parents are dysfunctional.

Just deny all knowledge and claim "her" name was Kim Davies or something lol.
If it passes the Crocodile Dundee test then all is well lol. lol.
Youd be spewing your ring up if you found out though!!

But the 5 year old is just wrong.

i dont know tbh but there is quite a bit of new research on this and some ppl are born the wrong sex to what their brains say so i would give these ppl the benefit of the doubt.i`m more open minded than i used to be and if the boy wants to be a girl who are we to argue, i think its actually good of the parents to back him/her rather than just force him to be a boy, it would just happen later anyway with alot more baggage thrown in.

He`s 5!! Sorry you cannot make decisions like that until after puberty, as thats when "feelings" happen, and even then it can take longer.

Fair enough in an older Teenager, or Adult, but no chance a 5 year old boy.

I'm not saying I have all the answers but as adults we do assume a role of telling kids how and what to do/behave etc, if not though direct edicts but by example. Kids would be raised feral if we took the stance of 'who are we to argue'.

Anyway this kid is reportedly trying to cut his own dick off. He needs help not a 'who are we too argue' stance.

Is it just me who thinks bringing this to the attention of the press was a retard move and something done to generate some extra cash for the parents ?

If he wasn't bullied before, he will be now.

It's an odd one. I tend to agree with most of the comments here. It's good of the parents to support him but he's surely too young to be thinking about surgery.

165 children received a GID diagnosis in the past year, of which only seven were under the age of five.
If that is true, its a terrible statistic.

Any parent that happily takes in these newage diseases as fact is just retarded.

I have found in this thread exactly what I expected on Scoobynet, a load of idiots who give no thought to the actual issue.

As a parent yes i'd be devastated if one of my children went through this but i'd be even more devastated if I ignored them and told them not to be so stupid and they went and killed themselves. The boy has tried to cut off his ***** FFS, what 5 year old does that unless he has some seriously bad issues that HAVE to be addressed.

I accept nature gets things wrong an awful lot of the time and this is one area which is extremely difficult to deal with but it happens and being born with the mind of one sex and the body of the opposite sex is something I find incredibly sad and devastating for all those involved, most of all the person who it affects directly.

It's not like those parents have actively encouraged it or had any physical changes made through operations, what they have done through medical backing and agreement is to support their child who is in a desperately difficult situation.

And before anyone goes on about namby pamby left wingers, that is the very least thing anyone who knows me would ever claim I was. I'm a parent who sees things for what they are and knows from experience nature can be extremely cruel.

Why is it good for the parents to 'support him'? And what do you mean by that?
