Default Interior light left on....

5:30 this morning I take the dogs for their morning walk to find our £300 car interior light on.

Interesting I thought, then I noticed the drivers door ajar..

**** broken into I think but knowing there is nothing in the car - I mean NOTHING. just had a valet and being a £300 car I am not to bothered.

Thinking back we haven't used the car for 2days and am wondering if it is possible that myself or my wife 'could' have not shut the door properly, or did someone break in - without any damage to the locks.

Now, If they broke in they didn't see anything to invite them and who would nick a carisma Auto that has seen better days?

I have since reversed the car so the drivers door is facing the house, put a disc lock on it and given the dogs the dinining room to sleep in - right next to the car. And put the works Beemer blocking it in - Really over the top for a £300 car

I guess I'm more worried / concerned about someone watching / breaking into the house.

Took me years to settle down after my turbo was knicked.

I would have thought 6hrs would kill a battery ?

So they broke in leaving no visible damage and then left without nicking any thing?

If its only a single 10watt festoon bulb it could probably survive a few days!

10watt/12volts = 0.833 amps x 6 hours = total 4.998amp/hours. So even a small 40amp/hour battery would easily cope with that.

As for someone nicking it. What year is it? If its post 1996, it should have a "chip in key" immobiliser as standard. All UK market cars made after this date have them.

Although I understand your fears, I used to run around ina a old 1984 Polo and 1987 Nissan Sunny used for work horses in and around inner Brum. Neither had any security plus the door locks on the Polo didn't work (so was always left unlocked) and the Nissan could be started with anything that would fit in the ignition key slot. So I was paranoid that joy riders or druggies might borrow it to mess about it. Hence why I put a disklock on the steering wheel (and to think I used to fit car alarms and immobilisers back in the day)
