Default Bathurst Touring cars ...1985

Tripped across this last night : If you have a spare 45mins and want to watch some old school racing:

Part 1: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1u...thurst-85_auto
Part 2: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1u...uto#rel-page-1
part 3: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1u...uto#rel-page-1

(skip ads by clicking cross in top right) of vid )

Highlights: (and laugh out loud moments): BMW+Mustang side by on the straight having a bit of banter with each other through the (open) windows.

Jaguar dominating being chased by fast Volvos (until they start breaking down)

Rovers losing

Live driver interviews...Whilst they are still racing!! One with Tom Wilkinshaw (RIP) himself and another with some bloke in a mustang....whilst the cabin was filling up with smoke

Commentator groans at the pace car/tow car....which everyone overtakes!

Football results at the bottom of the screen.

BMWs getting stuck in sand traps....and the drivers digging themselves out!

Great find!

Proper racing.Real cars that bear some resemblance to the show room models.
I can't believe the amount of suspension travel.

Absolutely riveting to watch.
Goes to show that some things have definitely not improved over the years.
I would rather watch this one race than all of this years GP & Touring Cars put together.

It certainly is

Driven it clockwise and anticlockwise in the WRX at or around the legal limit, so tempting to wind it up but didnt fancy a ticket ! or knock down the dog walkers or joggers !!

I must admit my admiration for the guys that fly round there in just over 2 minutes soared after experiencing it, especially entering McPhillamy into Skyline through The Esses and the Dipper, TV does them no justice at all.

Happy days

BTW PS3 owners Bathurst is available on a expansion pack download for GRID, previous to that I think it was only ever on the PS2 TOCA Race Driver 2.
