Couldn't that large empty space of blue sea be filled with something ? Maybe an 18ft Great White shark that sneaks up on someone thats on the bank having a slash into the sea and it pulls them into the water Jaws style.

Actually no becuase its a slice 1 bit wide repeated hundreds of times which allows it to vary in width according to your monitor/window size.
Like this: but without the spaces. So it involves more work that just swapping over a gif as it still has to work with the banner adverts (if enabled) and still allow the page to resize correctly, however I do wonder why we have more space for provided the header adverts than the actual website logo. Although we probably could change the colour, I made a snowy white one once which worked well with one of the old logo I made which was like the previous one but with tacky stuff removed:
Then the slices: etc

Really good, this. It reminds me of Winter 2010, when my scoob got stuck in the snow on the Leeswood hills, and I could do nothing but stay in my car with its hazzard lights on. I didn't have guts to get out and make a snowman on the side, it was ******* freezing and frightening at that time of the night. I was eventually (and thankfully) rescued, but ah, the memories.
