Poor phone signal on O2 with iPhone 3GS
Hi all is there any way to boost the phone signal on my 3GS. Just got it and it's quite poor/ drops out of signal around my home?. My old Nokia was great.

Mine's the same... change network or buy a better phone are the only suggestions I can offer, I'm afraid. Actual communication was never really the iPhone's strong point.

A work colleague popped round last night for beer and had been in Belgium all day. He would have called or txt to say he was going to be late but his iPhone didn't want to work abroad......again. That's his third sim card from o2.
'Great a toy,' he said, 'But crap as a phone!'.
Then he really worried me and said, 'Think I might get a Blackberry next time around.'

Blackberrys are excellent as phones, a top notch device for communication. Also Vodafone have done something to their network recently as the 3G signal is excellent now everywhere. They've enhanced their network, suspect to HSPA+, in the run up to 4G.

Ive just upgraded from an HTC Desire on T Mobile to an iPhone 4s on O2 and the reception is much much better generally. Although the T Mobile postcode checker claimed my house was in a very good reception area it constantly dropped calls and had no signal. My Mrs is on Vodaphone and that's terrible both at home and where she works. Her contract expires this month and will be changed to O2 as well.

I am not one of them "faithful" ones for a piece of gyzmotaaz with the downside of becoming outdated by another toy in next 6 months. Signalwise, iPhone 3GS has been better than all my past phones. I even had a Nokia 7710 flip-phone at one point, which was used by James Bond in one of his cheesy films. Even that didn't operate as well as 3GS. I don't know about iPhone 4/iPhone 4S much, because I haven't yet been a proud owner of any of them yet. These new models are also infamous for one thing or the other. I just like Apple, I do.

The 3GS has well doucmented reception issues. The 4 is better, its party trick is the antenna bridging issue.
Not having a go and couldn't care less, but anyone who tells you the iPhone 3GS in general does not have reception issues is talking out of their ****!!
