Default Finally drug free, feels great

Its been a weird old journey for me, not been myself since mum was diagnosed in 2008, and been on anti depressent medication for about the past 18 months. Well today is day 3 of no longer using them, and I am finally after over 3 years starting to feel like myself again.

Really strange feeling that I can quite describe, but I actually feel human again at last

Just thought I would share that

Cheers guys.
Its nice to know now that if I feel down or stressed its just normal living, and not because I was late taking my tablet. No more worrying about making sure I take enough medication away with me.

Im freeeee
Now to rediscover the real me, hope I like me lol

Good on you mate I wish that my ex could have been as strong as you and done it when I was with her.

Trust me when I say when you rediscover the real you everyone else around you will love you more. When I was with my ex and she went into one of her drepressive moods which was a daily thing it used to bring the people around her down as well.

great work mate

really good to hear

half is just breaking the cycle, of taking/thinking about your medication.

there will always be highs and lows in life - just the natural journey of life.

As the dose has reduced I have certainly been able to appreciate people and their actions towards me more. Even knee deep in debt from the past couple of years it still feels manageable.
Didnt think the day would come though, and just got used to being numb. But glad the meds were there to get me through.

Indeed mate, ready to embrace any high and low, and for the first time in ages, actually feel in control of what happens next.
Building up to the day has been a challenge as you say, and one im glad has passed now. I think I am almost drug free in my blood now, certainly at too low a level to have any worthwhile effect anyway.

yeah dependig on the half life of your medication, usually any oral will be short. so should be well and truly below effective levels, if not gone.

but withdrawl effects can take longer to show themselves, be ready for periods of feeling not so great.

youve done the hard bit of breaking the cycle, stick to it now. id say the most important thing is to think about it as little as possible. have lots of new things to occupy your mind with, activities ect.
plan your week ahead and have activities sheduled in to keep you failry busy.

well done

Yeah I know the challenge will be when a low arrives. Apparently Citlopram can be a bitch to initially get off in the first place. After that there is less chance of a problem, but I am open minded to the interpretation of this.

I have quite a bit to keep be ticking over, decorating etc so I wont have any dwelling time. Actually managed to have a proper think about mum passing last night, which was quite an eye opener. Again the lack of numb feeling makes a difference.

Mum diagnosed with terminal cancer, became her primary carer, a few other twists and turns made life a struggle in short.

exact same scenario for me mate,

didnt go onto anti-d but her death and the lead up to it was horrific

we (my dad and 2 sis's and her best mate were her home carers) along with friends visiting. my sis came back from oz for the 8 wks leading up to her death.

really horrible experience, i just appease myself with she was so fcked with morphine she wont have be overly aware of what was happening.

no shame in needing help to overcome thngs like that - but glad youve come out other side ok bud

Cheers Jef. With mum being ill, 2 very close friends dying within months of each other, aunt being diagnosed also with cancer, stretching myself between London and Wales to look after them, long term sick from work, financial difficulties, and worrying about losing my job and home, I think I did quite well too lol.

The pills are there for a reason, and its refreshing to know I dont need them anymore, and to turn my back on them now the time is right.
