Default Anyone tasted squirrel?

Went to my local farmers market yesterday and there was a guy selling squirrel as well as his usual fare of goat and venison.

I though the squirrel was a young rabbit at first til I read the label saying it was locally caught squirrel. To be honest it doesn't appeal to me as we've got loads of squirrels around here and I see them as nothing other than tree rats.

So has anyone tasted this so called delicacy?

Yes, its actually very nice. Delicate nutty flavour and compliments rabbit in a pie very well, which is how I usually use it.

They had it on Celebrity Masterchef a couple of months ago and it looked quite tasty. Not tasty enough for me to actually try it of course ...

Yet to try but would do given the chance as I will eat anything once. Had kangaro, croc, gator, gazelle, zebra etc etc. The kangaroo and zebra were really good but would give the rest a miss.

Given the rapidly expanding world population there is likely to be a shortage of meat in the future. On that basis squirrel and pigeon are likley to be two of the more desirable options to cater for our protein needs. You don't want to know what other options are being considered and indeed being consumed by some of the world's peoples.

For god's sake man...just get a proper hunting rifle, and be done with it

You'd look like Duke Nukem traipsing that lot through a forest.

looks like a Spyderco at the bottom.

Mind you, don't think it would have survived the bullet, arrow and definitely not the two axes

Sure we will all be eating squirrel soon if things get any more blooming expensive though!!!

The pigeon meat you see for sale isn't the urban skyrat we all know and hate, it's wood pigeon, a completely different and very tasty beast
