Fan Heaters ?

Fan Heaters ?
Working from home an frankly, it is a bit parky, have a jumper on as well !
Usually just whack the heating on but seems excessive for just me in the house given the recent price hikes, so dug an old fan heater out of the garage and am now lovely toasty warm with a slight smell of burning spiders/dust in the air.
So, i appreciate that these things chew through the juice, but my logic is that one room with a fan heater is probably better than heating a whole, decent sized four bed, quite old house or is it a false economy ?

Possibly, though there are some theories that keeping your house at a constant temp all day may be more economical than letting it get really cold and having the boiler running flat out for several hours to warm it up again. There must be a fair amount of thermal mass in houses too as once the actual structure of the house is warmed e.g. the walls etc. it will retain the heat for much longer.

J4CKO: the problem with those is that they DO use a lot of juice and will continue to do so even when the room is nice and warm.
The insulation from room to room isn't enough to use one for much time.
I have one in my loft, which is well insulated between the rafters. the better types are convectors WITH a thermostat, can be had for under £50.
Coffin Dodger: yep, been there, done the trisal and it DOES work.
My old boy was deputy head of a school here and did the same, they found a fuel SAVING leaving the heating on over the weekend.

My missus is gurning at me to get one of these. The new apartment we moved into has a timer system that myself, our plumber, our handyman, our landlord and our neighbour(with the same one) can't work out how to use.
