Just Bought a new ...
... Washing Machine.
My old Bosch finally bit the dust ..... I had spent 3 evenings with it in bits and couldn't revive it, I finally took it in arms and threw the damned thing out onto the back garden!!
Went down the shops and bought a Zanussi, all electronic wizardry, high spin speed, plays tunes too!! Remarkable piece if kit, the Bosch has served me very well for over 10 years .... I wanted a Bosch again.
But this Zanussi was reduced to such a silly low price (the lowest I have ever paid for a Washing Machine, in 35 years! - how can they do that?) ..... that it now sits singing its tunes in my kitchen!
Marvellous

True ..... but, as the Motor is the thing which goes (in my experience), it's a safe bet.
LG give 2 years on the whole machine - only got 12 months on this Zanussi.
To be honest, it was so cheap, it only needs to get to 5 years old to be an economic bargain.

Washing machine in the kitchen how common is that. Our washing machine and tumble dryer is in the utility room FFS.
Would have thought a man with your wealth would have a utility room

Utility Room is rather cold for the good wife ..... the Tumble Drier and Swimming Pool Pump lives in there, it's also one of the access routes into the Quadruple heated Garage.

I had a Zanussi years ago, and it lasted 15 years, and never had anything wrong with it. Not even a new door seal. It finally gave up the ghost and we bought a Bosch. Got a Siemens now (same thing).

The only problem with typical Zanuissi is the drum bearings....can't really take their rated load or rpm. Still bearings are typically £30 odd - not too hard to press in/out if you have a vice.
The fuzzy logic stuff has helped make them alot more durable, but you'll find a heavy large towerl or rug and it won't balance the load properly and will refuse to do a high speed spin...its will finish like normal but everything will be sodden wet.
Other typical faults is motor brushes...£7 part. Or a sticky pump just fee it off with some WD40 then lube it with white grease = FOC

Motor Brushes are a common issue ... how many machines get thrown out for want of two blocks of carbon I wonder?
The genuine Bosch brushes for mine were £38 ... no holders, no fancy mouldings, no amazing technology - just blocks of carbon with a wire sticking out of them!! £38!! Come on Bosch ... that's just plain greedy!

A washing machine engineer told me many moons ago not to buy a machine with a spin speed above 1200 if you want it to last, as they usually use the same motor on 1400, and thats what does for them and 1000 is plenty.
My current machine is a zanussi fa 1026, with a 1000 spin speed and its 5yrs old.
