Default Digital vs traditional thermostatic showers

I see that showers now seem to have either a digital or traditional (? bimetallic strip?) type thermostatic controls.

Are there any advantages/disadvantages of one over the other?

Thanks

Im not any kind of Mormon technophobe, but where the **** is the point in adding electronics to a ****ing tap? Beyond ridiculous. More ****e made in China that will end up in a landfill way before a normal one would. Progress eh?

Not having a pop at you btw, just a general "state of the world" rant.

Just bought a platinum mira digital shower but not installed it yet , gets very good reviews and stable temp. Also much easier install if you go for ceiling fed.

No probs Dave!
There were no 'digital showers' when I last had any work done and just wanted to get an idea of what they were all about

Scoobysoon, why did you pick a digital one? What are the advantages as compared to a traditional mixing valve?
This might sound silly but I assume it needs an additional electricity supply?

You are forgetting the nanny state now prevents showers from being too hot by making manufacturers fit temperature limiters to them.

Have a Mira Power Shower and its great, no running out of hot water, no balancing act with the hot and cold. No nasty surprise if someone flushes a toilet.

Would never go back. Just make sure you get a good one, cheap are usually crap.
