I can't wait to go into the smiley, smiley, smarmy, smarmy, Osmond/walton Style Apple shop and LOL at the prices

I think it's good that there will be another option, but for £160 i bet there will be a lot of people writing "you get what you pay for" in the reviews. But then there wouldn't be much point building a device with the same quality and functionality of an iPad if you then had to charge a similar price for it...

If you have a smart phone and a netbook like myself, I still don't see the point.
It is a good thing though that someone else is taking on Apple and it's fanboy base.

iPad killer with only 8gig, a puny battery life and a ton of restrictions. It's a great device Pete and if the iPad didn't exist I'd buy one in a snap, but it's never going to touch the iPad, nothing will.

Alas here we have the classic case of not knowing what you are talking about. Quelle Surprise !!
Jump on the amazing price bandwagon but dont actually learn what you are getting for the price.
See here.

Now fair enough this is their first effort and they will improve so not bad for a first go

FFS this is such non-news. At 7" the Amazon tablet isn't going to compete with the Ipad, and there are already a bunch of 7" Android tabs at low cost. The ones to watch are the 10" dual-core Android 3.0 tabs, these will improve whilst undercutting Apple and THEN we'll have proper competition.

I really quite enjoy the use of my desktop here and find it is pretty important in many ways to life in general.
I find it difficult to understand however just how worthwhile an Ipad or similar would be. I cannot think why it has to be so important to be able to access a computer at every waking moment where ever I might happen to be. What has happened to the rest of life? It used to be so relaxing when you were not available every second on a mobile, and carrying an Ipad as well just seems to be completely over the top!

As usual from PSL a complete trolling thread, perhaps the Kindle tablet might be a step up from the Kindle reader but it doesn't even come close to an iPad.
If you are mean then it is worth considering but for anyone else I don't think so.
Perhaps the Kindle tablet will go the way of the other great success that is the Civic diesel.

at PSL trolling utter boll0cks as usual. Two different markets based on screen size so not a direct competitor for the ipad at all.
Like Tel my ipad is far more used than my laptop/desktop and the netbook got rid of ages ago as it was a waste of money.
I can do all the stuff I need to on the ipad such as secure internet banking, excel spreadsheets and word docs browse the web and play games and do emails as well as a host of apps for playing about with on the move. Never had an issue not being able to play flash so a non issue for me.
I'm not quite sure what it is the anti ipad folk like Gear Head think their wonderful netbooks can do that the ipad/any other tablet can't do?
Instant on and off plus a far superior battery life is why my netbook got sold on and replaced with an ipad. I'm not tied to Apple, if there was a better tablet than the ipad then i'd get that but there simply isn't.

Ipad Killer, hmm, I am no Apple Fanboy but I couldnt imagine that it is going to kill the Ipad, for a start its got a seven inch screen, not a 10 inch one so not a fair comparison.
I think really, it will be a decent Android tablet, I had a Archos one and it was ok but a bit sluggish, was a seven inch one and it was ok but sold it as I didnt use it, just not into the whole tablet thing, persoanlly I have an Android phone and a laptop and dont need another gadget. We have a range of tablets "for Evaluation" at work, after the intitial interest they sit round gathering dust.
I think this may impact Ipad sales, but not much, the price points are too far apart and its not as aspirational.
What it will do is sell by the truckload as it has a recognised name and a low price, will be interesting to see how many people buy one and dont bother saving the extra for an Ipad and how many trade up to an Ipad.
What is an Ipad killer, for me is my new laptop, a Dell 6220 with 8 GB of ram, quad core processor and a Solid State Disk, only a 12 inch screen so not much bigger than an Ipad, enough power to do anything, a proper keyboard and it fits in my docking stations at work and at home.

It's only a couple of days before Apple "Change Everything" again with iOS5. Now, I'm no fan of voice control because up till now it's been a bit poo, even on Apple devices, but that's about to change. Apple acquired SIRI voice control last year, everyone is about to be blown away by what it can do.
