Default Argos: Robdogs or clever so-and-so's?

When they first started, they sold stuff cheap because they had no displays and little or no staff. Certainly NOT a place you could browse.

Now, they are trading on the idea that they are cheap, but they AREN'T!

Panasonic Lumix TZ20 from Argos: £279

Same amera from Dixons: £234.80

So WHY would anyone shop there any more? Even if they are AS CHEAP, they OUGHT to be cheaper with no displays, no staff to speak of, etc etc.

You said they were initally cheap becuase they didn't have displays, loads of staff etc and now they have it.. What do you expect -Argos are more expensive now because they have displays, electronic browsers and there service HAS improved.

I have worked there for 4yrs...

Some of the stuff is not actually refurbed.. Some of it is returned unwanted with a damaged box and unable to put back on the shelf.

They have a clearence store where you can see it all and there are some shocking bargins.

But how can you TELL if what you are spending your hard-earned on is returned goods because the buyer didn't like it etc, or because the item failed?

Their price structure is confusing although they are good for some things. Availability of items seems to be an issue in my experience.

HRG is Homebase aswell and Homebase are doing really well. All of the retail sector is struggling.. IMO.

I can't comment on the business but my opinion and therefore not related to the complany is that they have a stocking system that them spent X amount of millions on and it doesn't work.

Because they spent X amount of millions they are sticking with it.. - Resulting in a stock problem.

I notice it to and it pee's me off when they don't have something.
