Got a book on this subject and while at first I was pretty sceptical the book presented some fairly unexplainable examples of cases touted as possible SHC although it gave no conclusions as to whether the author thought it was a real phenomenon or not!
Jury is out for me - not prepared to completely dismiss it.

Well it is amazing what can happen when we find it so difficult to accept it because it does not fit into what we understand.
Everyone thought that nothing can go faster than the speed of light until the other day!

Strangely, this is the one thing that scares me more than anything I've ever come across.
It frightens me so much I avoid any mention of it either reading or on TV. Its the strangest thing but I start to get hot and my chest tightens - it's like thinking about it gives me a mini panic attack.
Of all the things you could be afraid of in the world!!

Would they burst into flames though? Just wondering if high concentrations of microwave energy could exist randomly in the cosmos. Or maybe a military satellite? Always seems to be OAPs sat next to a fire from all the cases I've read about in the past.
My guess is old people falling asleep or dying next to a fire. I've read somewhere that the fat in the body can seep out and act like the wax in a candle.

I knew this would keep me awake last night
It occured to me though that how come when we see the pictures, its like they are already dead? I mean, if you suddenly caught fire wouldn't you rush about in panic or something? Why don't they set everything else on fire?

Spot on As always Les! A had an experience after my dear dad passed away earlier this year that put me firmly in the camp of not being able to explain everything! :-)
