I would have thought the rain tyres would have been better for that dirt tracking.
Don't know when that was filmed but I hope it wasn't too recent, given they've got 14 months to get that circuit finished...

Typical American dramatisation. 
I still don't think F1 will ever be as popular as Nascar or Indycar in the states. If the race was going to be up state, somewhere like New York, then may be.
But staging a GP in the deep south is like walking into a pack of lions with nothing but a nice smile and expecting them to roll onto their bellies.
