People need to remember that the enforcement officers have no right to enter your property. They cannot take you to court unless they have adequate evidence that you watch TV.

I've got a lock up that they keep sending me demands to. Because its a residential aera they are insistant that I have a TV in there.
The threats in the letters are a joke - going as far as saying if I watch live broadcast on a mobile phone, I need a license (yeah, but not at more than one property - which they fail to clarify on!), and threats that they will send inspectors round to check that if it the case that I do not need a license there - they never have done, as of yet.
I checked out the law and it does say that it is an offence to have 'intent' to watch a live broadcast; to watch live TV. How they define 'intent' though is is very vague indeed. I presume it means have a TV with an aerial plugged in, or near to an aerial connector. But what about a mobile or a computer? Because I have a mobile with 3G, does that mean I have intent to watch a live broadcast?
FFS, they should have started to switch to encrypted subscriptions as soon as DVB came out. Most decent TVs and set top boxes have a common interface slot to accept a smart card CAM. The technology has been there for years now, and with the switch over looming it would have been a perfect chance to put an end to all of this nonsense.
But no, that would put all those working at the TVLA out of the job.
However, I'd gladly pay for a second license if they agree to sack Jo Whiley, Chris Moyles amongst any other annoying/overpaid persons who work for the BBC.

So I would prob use the excuse "ya don't know ya **** from your elbow so clear off "

Don't a lot of BBC shows now have quite a bit of 'product-placement', which is advertising is it not? I wonder how much cash they rake in from that every year.
Oh and I am a mug too and pay mine.
(Oh so close to getting rid of sky now though - Freesat HD recorder here we come!)
