As far as I'm concerned sustained and deliberate violence like that should carry a life sentence. It is the only way to get the message across.
Men fight, I get that. If two guys both want to have a fisticuffs then, provided it ends when one party is either floored, surrenders, or is unfit to go on then, in large part, I view it as an almost natural animal act.
That is simply unacceptable at every level and I honestly don't know why our society tolerates it like we do (that and knife crime).

If you are inferring a scenario whereby the victim pulled a knife before going unconscious and stabbed the two yobs then I'm of the opinion that the knife carrier go to jail for a long, long time. IMHO, the circumstances surrounding the use of the knife are to a degree understandable. However, IMHO, the punishable act is the decision to carry it in the first place.
We need to send out the message that carrying a knife with a view to using it will see you put away for a long, long, long time while, at the same time, sending out the message that carrying a knife for 'self-defence' will see you put away for a long, long time (2 longs vs 3).

I find that very worrying and I think there is a very strong case for bringing back the death penalty for deliberate murder. It is the only way to make people think twice about what they are doing.
Good to see that a passer by was prepared to go to the aid of the victim too. That does not happen very often now either.

Disgraceful. Shows how **** poor the justice system is in this country when a maximum sentence for behaviour like that is 5 years. Those two should be serving longer sentences than that, and deserve to be thrown to the wolves while inside.
