Default Removing exhaust manifold nuts.

Guys, I'm trying to remove the exhaust manifold on my car here. the fooking nuts are like cheese! 3 of them have literally just deformed as soon as any meaningful pressure was applied on them.

Any ideas on how to get them off without destroying the stud?

clean well with a wire brush soak it (well) in plus gas or similar overnight or longer. I usually end up hammering a slightly smaller socket on and wanging it loose!

I've had them soaking in WD40 for the past few days....couldn't get plus gas locally but one of the motorfactors had this stuff Carplan Freeze Your Nuts Off, tried it with no joy.

Its not as though they are welded on or anything, literally the amount of pressure I put on the nut before it deformed was pretty low.

That was one of my first thoughts but there isn't enough room to use a nut splitter.

I think you are right, I just like to try and tackle a job myself first. Who would have thought removing 12 nuts would be such a pain in the ****!

Its now pissing down too ffs!

My mechanic said, he's a tool for removing them without too much hassle. Apparently they always do this on my car or if you are really lucky the studs will snap flush with the engine.

You know what, I actually agree with that oddly. I did something quite sneaky lately and it landed me with some cash, infact exactly the same amount of cash that it is going to cost me to replace this manifold.

Karma is a bollocks!
