Default Tree in garden - lighting it up

Guys bit off advice on the following if anyone is in the know about these things ??!! okay have a tree at the bottom off the garden which is about 25 feet in height, last summer I ran power down the garden and installed one of these wall mounted security type lights at the base off the tree shining up in the hope that it would give me a lovely green light effect at night.

nope getting very little light effect shining up in the tree itself and its certainly not creating the green effect ??!!

what am I doing wrong, anyone done similar and had better results ??

I have a security type light which shines up a lilac tree approx 15 feet tall. I think you have the right sort of light but I wonder if it is correctly positioned. Mine is about 3 feet away from the trunk, so it shines on the canopy, not the trunk.

This is the sort of light you need http://www.mr-resistor.co.uk/item.as...=851&i=7078&a= Probably a bit pricey but I am sure there will be cheaper available.

Yep nice item and going by the pictures in the link that would do the job nicely unfortunatly at £217 and with winter comming up ie. bare tree its no something I would consider !!
will look for these metal halide type on ebay and also maybe even play about with the siting off the lamp I have here as has been suggested and see if I can get a acceptable result .

You need this type - around £90 + lamp, it will give a warm amber effect like you'd see around some old buildings / parks etc. long life units so should last.
