Just keep plugging away, it took me 14 months after graduating to get a decent job. Of course I went through a few rubbish ones during that time.

As secure as I can be I suppose in the present climate.
I work for a company that specialises in marine and industrial transmissions, so we are quite susceptible to changes in the economic climate. However, we have a very extensive product and application range as well as being an approved MOD supplier and service agent.
These attributes have kept us going nicely when things got a bit tight.
But anyone that says that they are totally secure are deluding themselves.

Nope, and I bet 90% of those who think they are in a safe job are not 100% safe, there is always that small chance you will get the chop, look at the army, local councils even 999 svs - 3 years ago they were "jobs for life".. not at the moment they are not!
Unless you are an undertaker or tax man, your job is not safe.

I took VR in August, will finish in March, so not secure! The writing was on the wall for my office, so took the very generous terms whilst they were still available.
Of course, I now have to find a job.........

Yes as we are actively recruiting engineers. However, I am realistic enough to know that all head office have to do is to decide that my division is no longer 'core' to the business and I am on the rock and roll!

I'm in Education - been victim to the 25% budget cuts.....
Has an effect on staffing levels....
Certainly not a secure job by any means. But that's OK - we're all scum according to most people on this site.

A). Long term medically downgraded personnel (i.e not fit to fight through injury).
B). Personnel who have reached the end of their 'looks' in their current rank. i.e they can no longer progress through the ranks. This is usually due to being Medically downgraded, a naughty boy or just being an all round crap bloke.
C). Voluntary
Don't know what the circumstances are in the RAF / Navy.

Although I am probably safe in my job to a degree. As in I would still be employed should my position cease as i would just move to another team I voted no as the role I currently do my end especially if they think I am not doing it good enough lol.
Plus I don't think any job is bullet proof.

Changed careers a few years back as was running my own business but foresee future problems so sold it. Now back to being an employee and enjoying it. Had 4 promotions and 5 pay rises in last 2 and a bit years, all down to my own making. No job is secure, but myself and 1 other in the company are about as secure as you'll ever get.

I Never take it for granted im secure to be honest .I have been with the same company for nearly 20 yrs in various roles .Recently took a promotion and 20% pay rise for the extra hastle I will get but cant complain .We have had payrises/bonuses every year and the company we are involved with are going from strength to strength even in these hard times which means we do well .

Being made redundant twice before, I agree no job is safe.
I just changed jobs last week, as my last last company brought in a crap working time solutions system last year which basically stops paying you overtime.
