Smoking is deeply unsociable nowadays, I feel the 'craze' is finally dying out. 20yrs ago had you asked this question, I suspect the answer would have been more like 80/20%

£6.70 a pack is certainly helping cut down the number of smokers too.

Never smoked. My Mother did smoke when I was a child and that kind of put me off. She stopped 15 years ago when she had a near-fatal heart attack.

Another ex-smoker here.

Stopped in Autumn 2005 and not a single cig since. Quite remarkable given how reliant I thought I was on them.

Now I am so glad I quit - it would cost me a fortune as I do a lot of driving and that was where I would smoke a lot.

I also fly and work on flammable chemical factories a lot - it would drive me mad not being allowed to have a smoke if I were still addicted.

Now whilst I don't disagree with the above statements, how come you see all the chav scum punting out babies like there's no tomorrow, and they all smoke like hell? I know plenty of people who are unable to have children, and none of them smoke!

Living is dangerous, there's lots of horrible stuff out there, and lots of it will harm you. You've gotta die of something!

As a colleague of mine says, "keep fit, die healthy"

I don't know how people can afford to smoke though, the price of **** is outrageous.

I gave up using the patches, I don't mind smokers, but I don't want it in my face.

My wife tried various methods, one of them being hypnosis. The man said something along the lines of "Would you eat a dog turd?" and made her liken it to ****.

She gave up and everytime she sees a smoker all she can envisage is a dog **** hanging out of their mouths She loathes it!

Never had any desire to smoke, tried it and never saw what the fuss was about, cant stand the smell, it seems wierd now to get a whiff as few people I come into contact with actually smoke, my father in law did but got told if he carried on he would end up having his legs removed

Still a few at work who all troop out for twenty mins of each hour, one dick gave up for two years and felt like he was missing out on the smoking shack chats and started again, ****.

One chap here exactly the same, so in the country there are probably tens of thousands of people who are actually addicted to the ritual of going for a *** as well as the nicotine itself. And it's my bloody taxes that get used to treat their heart attacks, lung cancer and God knows what else.

Both my parents smoked, and then my sister started. Mam & sister have since stopped.

Ex Smoker of over 40 a day .....

Spring 1999 I packed in, just stopped and not been back.

Oddly, 2 days ago I desperately wanted a smoke ...... over 12 years since my last!!

The urge never completely dies ............ unlike smokers who don't stop - they do die, young!

My grandfather died of (smoking related) Emphysema, quite a nasty disease ... when he woke in the morning he used to open his bedroom window & cough his guts up for about 10mins, after that he lit up

The family from "Shameless" next door smoke under a gazebo in the garden because their landlord doesn't allow smoking in the house.

The wretched stink means I have to close my opffice window all year round now.

dunx

P.S. I never started smoking thank god.
